Recently my XBOX got the dreaded ring of death. That’s the red ring of lights that brought pain and anguish to oh so many gamers. Microsoft recognized that their was an issue with the heat sync in first gens and is willing to replace any XBOX that got the ring of death. But you have to mail off your old one and then wait for them to send you a new one. Leaving you weeks without an XBOX. This would leave me weeks without Rockband, which is not healthy for me.
I bought my XBOX at Costco. Let me tell you why. Way back in the dizzay, I bought a cell phone from them and it died 3 yrs later. I returned it for a full refund and bought a brand new phone. So when I bought my XBOX back in Nov 2007, I bought from Costco knowing that they honor their lifetime warranty. When my XBOX died on me, I brought it in to Costco, and within five minutes I was granted a store credit of the amount I paid for my XBOX back in 2007. They gave me full credit!
I paid $478 for my XBOX back in 2007. It was a bundle pack that came with 2 controllers, a plug and play adapter, headset, a crappy arcade game, and the XBOX. Costco now sells the XBOX bundle pack for $350, which includes 2 controllers, a plug and play adapter, headset, 3 crappy arcade games, 2 crappy XBOX games (Kung Fu Panda, and Lego Indiana Jones) and an XBOX that shouldn’t crap out on me. Can’t wait to get my Kung Fu Panda on!
Oh yeah, I also bought a Garmin and a hot dog with the rest of my store credit.
Get a Costco membership. It’s worth it.
