Title: Sea Turtle
Client: Self
Media: Traditional drawing/ Illustration
Software: Wacom tablet, Photoshop, Illustrator

Project Summary

I got a WACOM Intuos 3 last year for my birthday and I really hadn’t got the chance to play with until now. I decided to brush up on my traditional art skills, and since I like turtles, I decided to sketch out this turtle the other day in my sketch pad. I started with basic shapes and etched out the details later. I scanned in my drawing last night and started coloring in my drawing. The amount of control you get with one of these tablets is amazing. It responds to pressure sensitivity and you can control line thickness, opacity and other brush effects with your pen. It’s almost exactly like using a real brush, but better because you can always hit undo or create a new layer. Once I got most of the shading and coloring done I blended in some textures to give it the effect that it was underwater. I had a blast doing this, expect more drawings in the future.

Here is the original sketch from my notepad.
